What happened? Twitter, which has occupied the building since 2011, allegedly failed to pay rent for its office space in London’s West End, according to a lawsuit filed recently in London’s High Court.

Reoccurrence: The lawsuit in London comes less than a month after the landlord of a commercial building on California Street in downtown San Francisco filed a suit against Twitter. In addition to failing to pay rent on a commercial building it recently vacated in Seattle.

What else? Another lawsuit outside of rent includes a private jet company claiming Twitter committed a breach of contract for failing to pay for two charter flights.

Top Ukrainian officials gone over corruption allegations

The stance: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky vows to crack down on pervasive corruption in the war-scarred country.

Reason: The European Commission which listed Ukraine as a candidate to join the European Union last year- request Ukraine to “further strengthen the fight against corruption” before the country is granted membership.

Fact: Transparency International, a Berlin-based nonprofit that measures corruption in countries by weighing scandals and acts by a government to limit civil and political freedoms, ranked Ukraine as the second-most corrupt country in Europe in 2021.

UK business activity goes down at the fastest pace in two years

Prediction: Britain is expected by many economists to suffer a recession in the first half of 2023 before a modest recovery later in the year.

The pressure: Inflation, which has stayed above 9% since last April 2022, is forecast to fall back before the end of the year, taking the pressure off the Bank of England to keep raising rates.

Others: The Chinese and US economies are forecast to improve later this year while the eurozone is on course to avoid a recession.
