Here’s what we have for you today:
• Costco drops service
• Dutch giant
• Starbucks’ reputation
Europe’s tech gem
Dutch machine: ASML machines make the most advanced computer chips known to public and it’s the only company in the world with that kind of technology.
Why? The crucial aspect of ASML’s most advanced machines is that they can work at tiny scales by generating super fine extreme ultraviolet light – just 13.5 nanometres.
Previously: ASML has been working on its highest specification machines since the early 2000’s, leaving other companies in the field with quite a bit of catching up to do.
Starbucks recalled in US
The jury: The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said 25,200 cases of the caffeinated drink, carrying 12 bottles per case, were recalled starting 28 January after glass was detected inside the 13.7oz bottles. That means officials requested more than 300,000 bottles to be returned.
Be warned: The recall was categorized as class two, meaning the affected product “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote”, according to the FDA.
Again: This is the second time since 2022 that a Starbucks product has been recalled. (PepsiCo distributes the popular coffee chain’s beverages.)
Costco discontinues membership service
Way back: Costco used to offer a full photo center in its stores that did things like developing film and printing digital photos.
Bye: The company shared via email that all online photo-based services would be closed as of January 28, 2023.
Go to? Costco then directed members to transfer their photos to Shutterfly, a popular online photo company.
