News ratings, highs and lows
CNN drops: In February 2023 marked CNN’s lowest-rated month in a decade.
Overall: Among total viewers, Fox News dominated prime time with 2.262 million viewers and CNN 587,000 viewers. The two networks saw year-over-year declines, with CNN down the most at 24% whereas Fox News was down 14%.
Fox News rises: Fox News had 94 of the 100 most-watched telecasts in February 2023.
Swiss bankers helped “Putin’s wallet”
Controversial: Four bankers will stand trial in Zurich for helping a man known as “Vladimir Putin’s wallet” to deposit millions of Swiss francs. Swiss media said the amount involved in the case was about 50m Swiss francs (£44m).
Trouble: The defendants are accused of having “failed to exercise due diligence to ascertain the identity of the beneficial owner” of the funds.
The record: Two accounts were opened at Gazprombank in 2014, according to the indictment, with the beneficial owner identified as Sergei Roldugin, a close confidant and friend of the Russian president.
US postal service upgrading
The push: As part of an electrification effort that cost $9.6 billion, USPS announced that it would purchase 9,250 brand new electric trucks alongside more than 14,000 charging stations to electrify the oldest operating federal vehicle fleet.
Electrify: The federal agency plans to make its fleet 75% electric in the next five years, and vowed that all vehicle purchases after 2026 will be electric.
The build: USPS will deploy more than 66,000 electric vehicles by 2028, and begin building its electric infrastructure at 75 locations throughout the country in the next year.
